Treating Kids

Empowering children for life

Healthy teeth are a crucial part of your child’s overall health. Helping them develop good dental care can begin with our Calgary pediatric dentist and staff. By setting a good example, you will play a vital role in keeping your child’s smile healthy while showing them the importance of good oral hygiene.

Regular dentist appointments can positively impact your child’s views about the importance of dental care. Enthusiastic and exciting dental visits can encourage your little ones to take on the same response towards their dental hygiene from a young age.

Prevent the development of dental anxiety by fostering a positive attitude towards dental health care. This will also result in a beautiful smile and children being more aware of cavities forming.

Settings kids up for success

Every child deserves a relaxing and positive first dental experience. Our family dental clinic in NE Calgary works hard to provide our young patients with an environment that fosters and appreciates good oral health.

Our team encourages you, as the parent, to bring your little ones for their first “Happy” visit. On this visit, our intention is to build trust and welcome our young patients into our practice.

Use of simple and positive terms will allow for our young patients to understand the importance of dental procedures and practices.

Making every appointment a fun experience for the children is an important driving factor for our team at Aviation Dental.

Our goal is to ensure that our young patients look forward to every visitation to our Calgary pediatric dentist and their new friends at the dental office!

Regardless of whether your little one is in for a regular checkup, cleaning, or some kind of dental treatment, our wonderful team at Aviation Dental will keep the environment supportive and happy.

How your kids can enjoy their trip to the dentist

Dental treatments tend to go smoother if our young patients are calm and happy. We aim to make it a fun and friendly atmosphere, so that may feel more motivated to return.

When should kids have their first visit?

Children are recommended to have their first visit to a dental clinic at 12 months of age by the Canadian Paediatric Society.

Children need to start learning good oral hygiene habits from the age of 1. Brush their teeth daily and always be on the lookout for potential signs of tooth decay. The use of non-fluoridated toothpaste may help until your child reaches the age of 3.

Promoting dental hygiene habits as a fun activity will show your children how important it is to practice good oral hygiene. Lead by example and brush your child’s teeth and show them how to do it properly so they can learn to do it themselves. These practices will follow your child into adulthood and prevent them from experiencing any harm to their teeth.

Caring for baby teeth

Using a soft, damp cloth, clean your baby’s gums twice – daily. As soon as their first tooth grows, use a toothbrush that is specifically made for babies to clean their newly grown tooth.

Lead by example. Set kids up for success by starting their oral health habits young.
